An acceptable use policy put in place by a company or organization
is used to define to their users what can and cannot be done using the
equipment provided. These policies are created to help prevent use of equipment
in a way that will not benefit the organization.
While Hagerstown Community College does not have many
restrictions within their acceptable use policy there are two things that truly
stand out and are clearly stated within the acceptable use documentation. They
are as follow.

Hagerstown Community College seems to allow use of all
equipment as long as it pertains to academics. If it does not pertain to
academics then it is suggested to refrain from said actions. The University of
Oregon on the other hand does have much more within their acceptable use
policy. Hagerstown Community College should review their own policy and take
from tips from the University of Oregon.

The University of Oregon does not allow any type of harassment,
forgery, or copyright violations to be done using their equipment as well as
many other things. They are very similar in the fact that as long as it is
school related it is ok. University of Oregon tried to limit any type of legal
infractions that may occur and makes themselves not liable by listing what
cannot be done very clearly within their policy.
